My name is Paulina. I am 19 years old and I am here to fight! On December 5, 2009, my 10 year old cousin, Rebeca, was diagnosed with Leukemia. I didn't find out for a few days after the diagnosis, but when I did, I was completely heart broken. I felt lost and helpless, I wanted to help my little cousin in someway, but that wasn't as easy as just saying so. She lives in Monterrey, Mexico and is getting great care, but I live in San Antonio, Texas, about 6 hours and a border away. I want so badly to be with her but that's kind of limited. So I decided I am going to help in the ways I can. I am going to spread the word and help find a cure for these diseases.
Rebeca is now in remission after a successful bone marrow transplant from her brother last April. She has gotten her childhood back! I could never be more thankful. She is one of the lucky ones. Some children are not so lucky..
